Today at Cantor Arts Center at Stanford University opens the exhibition "Keepers of the pictures: Andy Friberg." The exhibition features 16 works by the famous American photographer of his series of portraits of Russian museum caretaker.

In 2008, a photographer from San Francisco, Andy Friberg came to Russia to assess the changes that have occurred there since the his last visit in 1980. Walking along the leading art museums in Moscow and St. Petersburg (Tretyakov Gallery, Pushkin, Hermitage and Russian Museum), the photographer drew attention to the quiet humble caretaker, sitting on chairs in each of the rooms. He was struck by the respect with which they relate to the cultural heritage of their country as they are proud of their work, despite the meager salaries and the need to sit in one place for long hours. From the look of the artist is not hidden, and how at some unconscious level supervisor are somewhat similar to and complement the work of art, making their care entrusted with the exhibits together. Thus, one of the keepers of sitting in the jacket of the same rich blue color, as in hanging next to her painting by Matisse. Another woman folded her hands and her forearms look the same muscular and pale, like casts of Michelangelo's next to it. Photos Friberg emphasize that the supervisor becomes part of our overall impressions of the visit to the museum.

Friberg took photos, trying to remain unnoticed. The resulting footage, he has printed almost life-size models to a California audience had the feeling of being in the museum hall in distant Russia. Portraits of Russian supervisor assigned to the Cantor Arts Center, so that works of art in the photographs are consistent with the actual exhibits arts center.
