29 July 2020 at the State Russian Museum opened the major exhibition "Artists and collectors — to the Russian Museum. Gifts. 1898-2019. Favorites." The exhibition, which attracted more than 1,500 items of fine and decorative-прикладного art on the 125-летнему the Museum's anniversary and takes place in four main stages timing: in the Benois wing, Mikhailovsky castle, Stroganovsky and marble palaces.

the exhibition is so extensive that included four separate collections, the place each is found at its venue. So, the art of Ancient Rus and XVIII — the first half of the nineteenth century can be seen in the Mikhailovsky castle, painting, sculpture and graphic art of the second half of the XIX — the mid-twentieth century show at the Benois wing, painting 1960-80-х years and contemporary Russian art is located in the halls of the Marble Palace, and with samples of prints, folk art and numismatics can be found in the Stroganov Palace.

Among the authors of the exhibited works — the best representatives of Russian art over the past half century: I. K. Aivazovsky, L. S. Bakst, A. G. Venetsianov, Vrubel, N. S. Goncharov, B. D. Grigoriev, O. A. Kiprensky, I. N. Kramskoy, B. M. Kustodiev, V. I. Mukhina, I. I. Levitan, D. G. Levitsky, K. S. Malevich, M. V. Nesterov, K. Petrov-Водкин, I. E. Repin, N. Roerich, Valentin Serov, Konstantin Somov, P. N. Filonov, S. D. Erzya, and many others.

Impressive list of donors, which at various times were members of the Imperial family (Alexander III, Nicholas II, Grand princes), and famous patrons (patron of Russian art Princess Maria Tenisheva, the Director of the Hermitage and fellow Manager of the Russian Museum, count Dmitry Tolstoy, the diplomat, Prince Vladimir Argutinsky-Долгоруков), and the famous artists listed above.
