"The horse's head" found in 2009 at the bottom 11-метрового well in the former Roman settlement Waldgirmes (near the current German town of Lanao in Hesse). This is one of the most well-preserved Roman bronzes found in Europe. Nearby were found fragments of bronze stop in sandals. This allowed the archaeologists to conclude that it was a large equestrian statue — apparently, the Emperor Octavian Augustus.

Immediately after the discovery the farmer, on whose land it was found a bronze head, paid the premium in the amount of 48 thousand euros. But when he realized that the find is much more valuable than originally anticipated, the farmer decided to sue the state for its share — namely 50 % of the cost. Almost 10 years of litigation, finally gave its fruits: the court of Limburg ruled that the farmer, whose name the media is not disclosed, the German government is obliged to pay half the cost of the bronze heads — 773 thousand euros plus legal costs. It is unknown whether the German government to appeal against this decision.
