Tomorrow at the Jewish Museum and the tolerance center will host a book presentation of Vasily Rakitin about the largest collector of Russian avant-garde George Costakis

In the publishing house "Art — the twenty-first century" a book by Vasily Rakitin about the largest collector of Russian avant-garde George Costakis. Her presentation will be held tomorrow, 1 October, at 19:00 in the Jewish Museum and tolerance center with the support of the "Encyclopedia of Russian avant-garde".

Dionisovich George Kostaki — a prominent collector of the twentieth century. In his autobiographical notes, he describes his childhood and adolescence, the particular Patriarchal way of life of the Greek family in Moscow, the revolution, the era of NEP and drama of the 1930-ies. His passion for collecting icons, painting small Dutch and China soon gave way to real passion and a special kind of research activities aimed at studying and collecting the works of artists of the Russian avant-garde — Marc Chagall, Kandinsky, N. Goncharova, Larionov, V. Tatlin, Alexander Rodchenko and others. Gradually his collection has evolved into a unique collection awangarda@

In the introductory article Vasily Rakitin notes that the autobiographical notes of George Kostaki began as stories from the life of the collector. "They were preceded by his unsophisticated shaped oral comments: "vanguard — the vanguard in art", "generals Malevich and Tatlin". During the preparation for a lecture tour Kostaki in America and England there was a need to tell about the most interesting episodes in collecting".

Many stories included in the book, in its complete form for the first time are published and often accompanied by George Dionisovicha dialogues with witnesses of the events. Most used materials from the archive of a collector, courtesy of his daughter. An important role in the drafting of the book has played a conversation Kostaki in different years by art historians E.
