In the State Pushkin Museum is preparing to open the exhibition, which brings to Moscow the State Museum of history St.-Петербурга

See Petersburg as I have seen it of A. S. Pushkin... This opportunity will present to Muscovites "exhibition of Old Petersburg in the collection of Prince V. N. Argutinsky-Долгорукова", which brings to the capital the Museum of the history of St-Петербурга. Spectators will see over 120 works of original and printed graphic with views of St. Petersburg and its environs XVIII — the mid-nineteenth century from the famous collection of Prince V. N. Argutinsky-Долгорукова.

Vladimir Nikolaevich Argutinsky–Dolgorukov (1874-1941) — famous St. Petersburg collector and connoisseur of art, one of the founders of the Museum of Old Petersburg (now the State Museum of history St.-Петербурга). For ten years his was a comrade of Chairman of the Board and of the Directorate of the Museum. In 1907 he donated to the Museum of Old Petersburg, the drawings of leading Petersburg architects of the XVIII — the first half of the XIX century, paintings, watercolors and drawings with views of the capital, engravings and lithographs, plans of Petersburg of different periods. This collection became the core collection of the Museum in the first decade of its existence.

Altogether, they collected more than three hundred views of the city and its environs XVIII — the mid-nineteenth century in painting, drawing, prints, photographs and works of applied art. A special place belongs drawings, engravings and lithographs of Russian and foreign artists depicting the classic Petersburg. With engravings by B. Patterson and J. chesky, the lithographed views of St Petersburg, published by the Society for the encouragement of arts in 1820-е years, the prints created from English, German and French engravers, and lithographic in the nineteenth century, has established St. Petersburg iconography, which included the most representative types of capital and its environs. The appearance of the city 1830-х years is reflected in the works of such masters of the urban landscape, as M. N. Vorobiev and V. S. Sadovnikov. In 1810-30-х years, the urban landscape was often depicted Palace quay and Winter Palace, the spit of Vasilievsky island and the embankment near the Academy of arts.

However, His collection is not only a textbook but also gives the opportunity to trace the history of many famous monuments. So, at the exhibition you can see Yelagin Palace, depicted by an unknown artist prior to its rebuilding in the years 1817-1819. In the drawings 1830-50-х years captured scenes of the erection and unveiling: "the Visit of Emperor Nicholas I of construction of the Alexander column during the movement of stone blocks for the Foundation of the" unknown artist "Palace square on the opening day of the Alexander column" M. N. Vorob'eva, "the inauguration of the monument to Emperor Nicholas I on the Mariinsky square" by V. S. Sadovnikov.

In search of a new city of his motives, is considered a "connoisseur of art", included in his collection not only leaves excellent draftsmen and watercolorists E. P. Hau, K. I., Kohlmann, S. V. Sadovnikov, but the work of unknown artists. A bit sluggish painting of a Swiss decorator D. F. Lamoni swim motifs of his work: unpreserved or lost their initial view of buildings in Pavlovsk.

a Separate small group is made up of images of interiors, executed in 1830-60-х years: the Kazan Cathedral (Z. F. Ivanov), the little Church (E. P. Gau) and the Jordan staircase of the Winter Palace (Yu Friedenreich (?)), the Grand staircase of the Academy of arts (V. G. Furman).

the collection includes a series of etchings and lithographs, published in the first half — the mid-nineteenth century, including "Types of suburbs and neighborhoods С.-Петербурга" original S. F. Shchedrin, "Assembly of St.-Петербурга and the surrounding area of the" Society for the encouragement of arts, and others.

Created in the second half of the nineteenth century panorama "General view of St. Petersburg with surroundings from the height of bird flight" by I. I. Charlemagne (engraving from this original was donated to the Museum by V. N. Argutinsky-Долгоруковым) completes the "review" Old St. Petersburg.
