In the Central exhibition hall "Manege" today presents the assemblage Vadim Sidur "Salome with the head of John the Baptist" (1977). It is one of three sculptures derived Museum and exhibition Association "arena" as a gift from the artist's son, Dmitry Vadimovich the Siddur, and arrived in Berlin at the end of 2014 years. The exhibition also shows 12 linocuts of the Siddur of the series "101" (1971).

Vadim Sidur (1924-1986) - an outstanding Russian sculptor, received worldwide recognition. When he returned from war, he graduated from the faculty of monumental sculpture at the Stroganov school, later lived and worked in Moscow. From the realistic plastic mid 1950's creative, artist led him to break with the socialist realist Canon, and later - the avant-garde sculptures cycles "Coffin-Art" and "Iron prophets", for which the Siddur used sewer pipe, automotive motors and other human waste tsivilizatsii@

In the Soviet Union the work of Vadim Sidur was not present, but at the end of 1960-ies appeared first publications about it in the West, and then numerous solo exhibitions. Sculptures of his models were installed in Germany and the USA. All this brought the artist a lifetime world izvestnosti@

the Museum of Vadim Sidur appeared in Moscow in 1987 year as a public initiative on the basis of the personal exhibition of sculpture in the Exhibition hall of the Perovskiy district, Moscow (1995 - Moscow state Museum of Vadim Sidur). Now the Museum is included in Museum and exhibition Association "Manege". The main exhibition shows sculptural and graphic artist's legacy in all its mnogoobrazii@

the Legend of Salome - a common story of Western European and Russian art. Artists of all times was attracted by its vivid drama and internal dynamics. The Siddur presents the tragic end of the - Salome with the head of John the Baptist on a platter. This option  is the static, but also the most emotionally stressful. Trying to convey the inner feelings of the heroine, various artists vary from cold indifference and scorn to pity and horror. "Salome" Sidur - when all the grotesque conventions of her image and unusual plastic solutions - the epitome of soulless beauty, arrogance and gestaltete@

Interestingly, Siddur preferred to call this sculpture "the Daughter of Herod" (Salome in the gospel is not named by name, the name of the daughter of Herodias is known from other sources). Perhaps the artist wanted to emphasize that meant the biblical Salome, and not the character of the plays of Oscar Wilde, with its emphasis on eroticism and depravity, which has had a dominant influence on the fine tradition of the twentieth veka@
