The exhibition "Post-поп: East meets West", which opened recently at London's Saatchi gallery, explores the phenomenon of popular art, engulfed in the twentieth century, virtually the entire world — from America to Asia

At London's Saatchi gallery opened the exhibition "Post-pop: East meets West". About 250 pieces 110 artists from China, Taiwan, countries of the former USSR, UK and USA will talk about how the phenomenon of popular art influenced artists all over the world - carriers of different, sometimes opposite ideology@

Pop art, based on the use of recognizable images of mass culture, has become one of the most significant trends in the art of the twentieth century. During that originated in Britain and America in 1950-60-ies, in every part of the world acquired its meaning color. In the West, artists used images from advertising, to criticize the modern consumer society and the cult of celebrity. In Soviet and post-Soviet space artists directions "Sots art" used propaganda posters and slogans, Soviet symbols to refer to the problems of state control, pliancy, formalities, pomposity and visibility of universal unity. In Asia, the artists direction "political pop art" or "cynical realism" through the iconography of Chinese socialist realism thinking about the political system of the PRC and the emergence of the cult of wealth and luxury after a period of austerity. And all these topics are transmitted through humor and popular images of mass culture, friends and family tritely@
