The exhibition, organized by the gallery GROSart together with the State Pushkin Museum, presents 71 original graphic works of the author, who for nearly a hundred years of English literature illustrated

in the exhibition halls of the State Pushkin Museum in the Cash Lane opens the exhibition " English book, in Russian style . Illustration of the 1920s - 2010s . " The exhibition, organized by the gallery " GROSart " together with the State Pushkin Museum as part of the Year of Culture of Great Britain and Russia in 2014 , represents the first widely original graphic works by 71 website ( including little-known private collections ), which for nearly century English literature illustrated . They created book illustrations , gold fund component of domestic art books, complemented by a fairly rare phenomenon sculptural illustrations , as well as puppet and decorative compositions by subject .

Between from the 1920 's to the early 2010s to design an exemplary works of Shakespeare, Swift, Smollett , Sterne, Burns , Byron, Keats, Scott , Dickens, Thackeray , Carroll , Kipling , Conan Doyle , Wilde , Shaw, Milne , Golding , Tolkien and other classics of English poetry and prose with passion accessed such luminaries Russian illustration as Vladimir Vladimir A. Tabor , Alex Kravchenko , Vladimir Lebedev , Lev Lev Bruni , Vladimir Konashevich , David Sternberg , Vatagin , Nikolai Alekseev and other authors who worked primarily to the mid-twentieth century , as well as their successors and disciples . Among the most recent in 1930 - 60s were active , Michael Peaks , Valentine Kurds , Mikhail Polyakov , Vladimir Milashevsky , Fedor Konstantinov , Eugene Golyahovsky , which comes to replace the then new generation of artists represented by Dmitry Bisti , Valery Valery S. Alfeevskogo , Boris Dehtereva , Victor Duvidova , May Miturich , Boris Diodorov , Yuri Vashenko , Victor Chizhikova , Anatoly Itkin , Nikolai Ustinov , Boris Vlasov and others .

in this broad thematically organized art space naturally aligned not only temporary stages in the development of domestic illustration, but also stylistically traced through the line, such as those associated with traditional books realistic figurative " tone " image ( Vatagin , Dekhterev , Itkin ) , and going from Tabor in silhouette - mounting synthetically organized composition , and even with the proposed " miriskusnika "in the XIX-XX centuries romantically easy, fast and metaphorically drawing game ( Kurds , Milashevsky , Alfeevsky , Vashenko ).

Caught galaxy of younger artists (Alexander Koshkin, Anastasia Arkhipova Julia Gukova Andrei Bondarenko , Victoria , Denis Gordeev , etc.) illustrate the tendency of English writers in still reflects not only the specifics of the law-governed selection of literary works , the most preferred plastic for " lighting " at some point or another , but also transmits a known dynamics of artistic taste and style that generates abundant imagination and skill in solving the unique meeting point of Russian eyes and the English word .
