Kiprensky ; portraits created fashionable European artists - Angelika Kaufmann, Christine Robertson, as well as lesser-known painters Ligocka I. and F. Kuehnel, unknown master circle EL Vigee-Lebrun. Among the images - Empress Catherine II, Emperor Alexander I, Countess AP Sheremeteva, Countess AA Chernyshev, daughter of EI Vadkovskaya, graphs NP Sheremet and DN Sheremet, Princess AA Golitsyn, NF Yengalychevs with her daughter, V. Davydov and A. Davydov, nee Princess Baryatinskaya (later the Earl and Countess of Orlov-Davydov).

exhibition shows one of the faces of the extensive collection of portraits of XVIII - XIX centuries, the meeting of the Historical Museum. The story of creation and existence of these works is itself an interesting fact of culture. A detailed account of each portrait is contained in the annotations.

Exhibition on display in one of the rooms of the second floor of the Historical Museum, which originally had the name "Catherine". Its architectural shape and color scheme were designed by the architect AP Popov in 1880. The interior of "Catherine," the hall of the museum has a pronounced stylistic decision and is associated with the palace and the interiors of the manor of the Classical period - Empire of the second half of XVIII - first half of XIX century.
