Today at the State Russian Museum opens almost the first monographic exhibition introducing the history of the relief in the Russian art of XVIII — beginning of XXI century and tracing the development of its main types and genres, and also to understand the features of his plastic language. The exhibition includes the earliest specimens, created in the XVIII century, portrait reliefs, B.-K. Rastrelli and Marie-Anne Collot, historical compositions Fedot Ivanovich Shubin and Jacques-Dominique Rachette@
the Story of the relief of the nineteenth century, continuing the tradition of the academic school, is revealed in the historical and allegorical compositions Ф. P. Tolstoy (Medallions on the events of the Patriotic war of 1812), I. P. Vitali and G. R. Zaleman. Another line of development of the relief associated with the emergence of the realistic art of the XIX century, presents samples of genre and portrait genres — works М. M. Antokolsky, Ya P.
