Today, 26 August, in the Mikhailovsky Palace Russian Museum presents "Out of Russian life XVIII - first half of XX century". The exhibition features graphic works, sculptures and decorative art from the Russian Museum. These works, created by local and foreign artists from the mid XVIII century until 1917, devoted to various reasons and ways of life of the Russian countryside and cities.

The exhibition traces the history of origin of genre in Russian art and its subsequent development as an example drawings, watercolors and prints of such famous masters of Russian art, as I. Ermenev, M. Kozlovsky , A. Venetsianov , AP Fedotov . Also in the exhibition includes the work of little-known genre of foreign masters XVIII - first half of the XIX century, and unique porcelain this time with images of people typecasting and household scenes. These works have become a kind of encyclopaedia of Russian life, revealing his joyous and tragic aspects.

Original flourishing genre in Russian art of the second half of the XIX century is reflected in the graphic works of Repin and In . Makovs'kogo and sculptural compositions I. Ginzburg , A. Aubert , Trubetskoy and F. Kamensky . Rounding out the exhibition graphic works Valentin Serov , Kustodiev , K. Juon , B. and other major artists early twentieth century, revealing new ways of development of this genre in Russian art.
