In Moscow, an exhibition of unusual and underestimated Russian avant-garde
in the gallery "Elysium" is Expo underestimated, but very interesting artist of the first Russian avant-garde - Sterligova Vladimir Vasilevich (1904-1973) . Works by this artist shown in the gallery Proun "Two years ago, but then the organizers have decided to concentrate only on one topic - the circus. Also today, the gallery "Elysium," prepared a retrospective covering the art Sterligova from 1940 to 1970.
spends most of his life spent Sterligov in the northern capital, where trained a whole galaxy of artists ("School Sterligova"). He is himself a follower of . Arriving in 1925 in Leningrad (on the advice of fellow member of Malevich Vera Ermolaeva ), he entered the State Institute of Artistic Culture (GINHUK) - one of the last strongholds of the artistic avant-garde. In those years Sterligov was primarily so share illogic oberiutov. Furthermore, the major influence on him had Suprematism of Malevich and cubism.
Unfortunately, shocks 1930 and the war years were treated brutally with the legacy of the artist: his early works survived quite a bit - one painting in 1928 under the title "Suprematic board (balance)" and a few drawings. At the end of 1934 Sterligov, with Ermolayeva and students, was arrested on charges of "anti-Soviet activities" and sent to a camp near Karaganda. He was released after four years of the artist. In 1941-1942, he fought in the 47 th artillery regiment, having kept the defenses on the Karelian Isthmus, was wounded and discharged. Spent several months in besieged Leningrad, was evacuated to Kazakhstan, where he married his pupil Pavel Filonov - Tatiana Glebova . It was the second marriage - the first wife of the artist, L. Meissner, was repressed and killed shortly after his arrest. In 1945 Sterligov Glebova and returned to Leningrad.
After the war, the artist worked oformitelstvom and book and magazine illustration. Orders were rare, but in painting at his "official" language he moved. Rise Sterligova occurred in recent years - it was then that he discovered the so-called "chashno-dome" system of display space. Inspiration condescended to the painter April 17, 1960 at Krestovsky Island, where he saw a new surrounding nature. Dome of the sky and the land forms a bowl curve - "the universe is perceived as a single organism, which is based chashno-domed curved structures" ... Curve as a direct antithesis Malevich: both - "additional element of modernity, but a direct separates, divides the world into two parts, and the curve, by contrast, connects. We can not detect when communications with the organic theory Michael Matiushin (more on this course can be found Here ),-centered primarily interaction, mutual natural forms: as an art critic wrote Alla Povelihina, "in the" organic "plastic is not the whole sum of the parts, as a kind of natural unity of the changed parts." The paintings and drawings Sterligova while there may be several spaces, several worlds - the top can turn into a bottom, and the background can find a substantive outline, so the work Sterligova is neither figurative nor abstract. However, unlike oberiutov whose work exposed the paradoxical and absurd, for the most part of the timeless world of the human mind, Sterligov, according to art historian Gleb Pospelov, "searching for the world is not chaotic, but the inspired order ... Significant influence on his outlook had converted to Christianity. Part of the element in his iconography are the angels and the eye ("eye of God"). The artist was interested in paintings and in some of his writings explored the problem of creating "face».
