In the Museum of St. Petersburg avant-garde "House Matyushina" opens the exhibition "Images of war. The first world war and the avant-garde artists". The exhibition presents more than 30 works of artists, futurists, dedicated to the events of the First world voyny@

the Patriotic upsurge that swept Russia in the early days of the war, reflected in different spheres of public life, culture and art. In the propaganda war took an active part poets and artists. Indicative in this respect the activities of publishing houses "of Today's lubok", organized in August 1914 philanthropist of the year G. B. Gorodetsky. The publishing house has produced made in the style of traditional Russian lubok prints posters and postcards proclaiming the victory of Russian arms and in satirical terms representing the enemy. Popular prints were accompanied by rhymed sparkling texts, comments. Drawings for posters and postcards were made by the famous avant-garde artists Д. D. Burliuk, К. Malevich, И. I. Mashkov (alias I. Gorsky), М. F. Larionov, А. V. Lentulov, В. N. Chekrygin. Lyrics for popular prints wrote В. V. Mayakovsky, who was also the author of a number of drawings.
