Today, 9 September, the State Tretyakov Gallery opens the exhibition "Artists of the Russian diaspora. Marianne Verevkina (1860-1938 )».

Name Russian-Swiss artist Marianne (Mariamne) Vladimirovna Verevkin, associates world-renowned masters of European avant-garde A. von Jawlensky and Kandinsky , well known in the West. Her distinctive style, which arose "at the crossroads of cultures - Russian, German, French - combines the experience of Symbolism, Fauvism, Expressionism, kluazonizma. The exposition at the Tretyakov Gallery, dedicated to the 150 th anniversary of the artist, the first widely present Heritage M. Verevkin in Russia.

Munich M. Verevkina became one of the spiritual leaders of the international community of artists that included Wassily Kandinsky, H. Munter, P. Klee. The artist plunged into philosophical problems art, realizing this interest in the "salon" discussions. Developed the theory that "male talent" must be engaged in creativity and "female talent" - to teach, M. Verevkina for 10 years, from 1896 to 1906, does not create pictures, devoting himself to career in A. von Jawlensky. In 1903-05 Marianne and Alex have taken important for the future creation of both travel to France, visiting Paris, Normandy, Brittany, Provence. In parallel, M. Verevkin in "Letters to the unknown, became the theoretical basis of the New Society of Artists, founded in Munich with their involvement in 1909, and then - and the famous" Blue Rider "(1911). A. Wassily Kandinsky developed a reflection of the artist "abstract art" as "domestic arts" in his theoretical writings 1909-1911 period. It is obvious that M. Verevkina prepared the birth of abstraction, but she refused to go this route.

In 1914, the First World War forced Verevkin M. and A. von Jawlensky in Munich to flee, leaving all , including paintings and writing. The artists have fled to Switzerland, first in the Pan-Prés and Zurich, and in 1918 settled in the south, in Ascona (Canton Ticino), where in the interwar period have found refuge rebels, philosophers, writers, poets, artists from different countries . M. Verevkina has become one of the iconic figures of the cultural life of this city. In 1922 she founded a museum of modern art in the collection of which holds much of the legacy of the artist and the work kept her friends - Alexander von Jawlensky, Klee, P., C. Amet.

exhibition at the Tretyakov Gallery will display 50 paintings M. Verevkin and 20 albums with sketches from the Municipal Museum of Ascona and private collections in Switzerland. Most of the works presented refers to the end of 1900 - 1910 years, the formation time of the artist's own style.

context of Russian art M. Verevkin denotes the product of its contemporaries: Teachers (I. E . Repin, IM Pryanishnikov ), associates and friends (AG von Jawlensky, V. Kandinsky, Kardovsky , O. Della-Vos , MA Vrubel , VE Borisov-Musatov , etc.) from the Tretyakov Gallery. The exhibition was first presented photographs and letters to M. Verevkin Grabar stored in the department of manuscripts of THG.

exhibition will be one of the most important events in the Swiss canton of Ticino in Russia. It is an initiative of City Hall and the Museum of Contemporary Art of Ascona, as well as fund Marianne Verevkin with the support of the Government of the Canton Ticino. In late 2010, the works of M. Verevkin will be shown at her home in Tula. In March 2011 in Ascona will show a response. It will introduce the European audience with the work of the circle of Russian artists, which has developed a talent M. Verevkin.
