Naftali (Anatoly) Rakuzin was born in Moscow in 1948, his father was an illustrator. He graduated from the Institute of Printing (1970), worked as a book designer. In 1974 he emigrated to Israel, until 1982 the first lived and worked as an artist in Jerusalem. In 1982 he arrived in Paris in December of that year became a member of the Union of Artists.
