From 5 February to 1 March at the State Tretyakov Gallery hosts first solo exhibition of Anatoly Ivanovich Shugrina
The State Tretyakov Gallery has continued to discover the public forgotten the names of masters of the XX century, works which, for various reasons, little is known, but significant for the history of Russian art. Today in the exhibition hall will open in Tolmachev first personal exhibition in Russia Anatoly Anatoly Ivanovich Shugrina (1906-1987), who are familiar with the master, whose searches were in tune with the development of European modernism.
extraordinary personality AI Shugrina - widely gifted and none similar representative uncensored art Russia the middle of the twentieth century - still waiting for the study. Painter and sculptor, he was in the shade primarily because of the lack of his works in major museums and major exhibitions. Only once in the composition of the Moscow artists, he participated in large-scale exhibition «Artists of the RSFSR for the XV years» (1933, Moscow). The only personal Shugrina retrospective was held in 1982 in Washington, triggering a surge of interest from private collectors.
In the early stages of the artist tried himself in theater and art Set in the traditions of painting followed by a Moscow school. On the formation of his creative individuality seriously affected M. Sokolov , taught at the State College of Fine Arts in memory of Rebellion of 1905 (now - MGAHU memory of 1905), where Shugrin studied in 1925-1930. This outstanding master, who suffered years of Stalinist repression, Shugrin maintained friendly relations until his death. But this was not the only impetus; Shugrina seriously interested in the art of Western Europe - as the old masters, and modernism, particularly Italy and France: art A. Modigliani, P. Picasso, A. Derena, A. Matisse, J. MOM, J . Morandi, G. De Chirico. Among Moscow's colleagues he appreciated P. Kuznetsov , A. Tyshlera , Nikolai N. Sinezubova .
From the late 1920's Shugrin was a member of the creative unions, working under orders. Up to now mainly came fotoreproduktsii paintings, executed them in the Great Patriotic War, when the artist served in the Red Army: the military landscapes, portraits of historical personalities, the author of modern science and culture. By joining in 1945 in MOSH, Shugrin kept apart in a professional environment and is not adjacent to any particular direction. In the postwar years, he taught drawing at the Moscow Art School number 1 and the Stroganov School, was considered an outstanding teacher. According to his disciples, remembering the sad experience of MK Sokolova, Shugrin did not seek to put, as its new product showed a narrow circle of friends at home.
Most artist's early works were destroyed in the war years, which makes analysis of his creative evolution. However, experts believe that an important period of experimentation with color, shape, texture of the wizard, tyagotevshego to dekorativizmu and expression, occurred on the eve of the 1930's and 1940's. Painting became his plane and slightly geometrizovannoy, bought the complex and intense flavor. In a later abstract collages and sculpture, sound art echoes of non-1910-20-ies. This subsequently allowed to talk about Shugrine as a continuation of the avant-garde traditions.
figurative painter system, apparently emerged as early as adolescence and the years only plastically transformed, reconstructed. The subjects of many paintings and reliefs were transferred to round plastic and returned to painting. Shugrin varied with the same motives - interior scenes, family portraits, children and the image of naked, idyllic walks in the parks. Dating many works remains controversial: the artist does not indicate the time of the establishment and did not give names to their work, have them coming back. It is like leaving the possibility of many and a free interpretation of his life.
These days, AI Shugrina products stored in the museums of Nukus, Yaroslavl, Novosibirsk and Tbilisi, in private collections in Russia, France, Hungary, the United States and other countries.
In a retrospective AI Shugrina in the Tretyakov Gallery, which will last until March 1, includes about 80 works 1930-70-ies from the author's family and private collections in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
