Russian auction at Sotheby's in London will be held on June 7, on Monday, and on June 9, on Wednesday. There are represented: painting XIX and XX centuries, objects made in the workshops of Faberge, icons and contemporary art.
Canvas "Portrait of a dancer" (1917) of Konstantin Korovin (1861-1939) put up for auction with estimeytom 150-200 thousand pounds. The portrait was presented to the owner by the artist himself, when he stayed at his home in France. When in 1923, Korovin emigrated from Russia to France, its exceptional scenic gift earned him the deserved fame of the main Russian impressionist.
Painting "Titi and Narang, daughter of the chief Eki Bondo» Alexander Yakovlev, Tamm (1887-1938) comes from a private French collection and originally belonged to the head car manufacturer Citroën Georges-Marie Haardt. It is part of a series of works Yakovlev, made during his participation in an expedition to Africa, organized by Andre Citroen in October 1924 - June 1925. In April 1925, Yakovlev and Haardt visited the village in Niangare (Haut-Zaire today the Democratic Republic of Congo), where they took tribal leader Eki Bondo. There, the artist made several sketches of the members of his extended family. This work, performed by the master in 1926, estimated at 700-900 thousand pounds.
Painting "Swimmers at dawn" was written by the largest Russian seascapes Ivan Konstantinovich Aivazovsky (1817-1900) in 1857. It comes from a private American collection (estimate: 700-900 thousand pounds).
following lots, which will be presented at the auction come from a private European collection and include: "Portrait of Rachel Strong, the future Countess Henri de Buazhelen "(estimate: 300-500 thousand pounds) Leon Bakst (1866-1924) and "Still Life with Magnolia (estimate: 100-150 thousand pounds) Zolotinskaya Goncharova (1881-1962) .
Among the top lots section of arts and crafts will be offered a rare Faberge hinged from the clock and picture frames (two-tone enamel, silver gilt, inlaid with mother of pearl) Wizard Johan Viktor Aarne (St. Petersburg, 1899-1908; estimate: 500-700 thousand pounds). This work represents one of the finest hours of Faberge designs that combine luxury and functionality: hinged covered with mauve enamel and marked by the stigma Aarne in the form of green apple. At the international art market hinged appears for the first time in decades.
