L’VOV Petr Ivanovich

In 1898–1901 Petr L’vov studied at Moscow School of painting, sculpture and architecture (MUZhVZ) under the guidance of S. A. Korovin, V. N. Baksheev and S. V. Ivanov. After graduating from the MUZhVZ, he moved to St. Petersburg and entered the Higher Art Institute under the Imperial Academy of Arts (IAKh). L’vov studied under D. N. Kardovsky, N. S. Samokish, and in the studio of F. A. Roubaud. He also attended the private studio of Y. F. Tsionglinsky. In 1913 L’vov graduated from the Academy with the title of the artist.

Since 1909 L’vov took part in exhibitions of art. He was a member of the society Mir Iskusstva (“World of Art”), the Union of Youth, the societies Four Arts and Moscow painters. In 1924–1929 the artist taught drawing at the Higher State Artistic and Technical Workshops (VKhUTEMAS) — the Higher Art Technical Institute (VKhUTEIN) in Leningrad. In 1933–1935 he taught at Leningrad Institute of painting, sculpture and architecture (LINZhAS).

L’vov was engaged in lithography; he created city landscapes of Leningrad and Moscow.

Works by Petr L’vov are in many private and museum collections, including the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum in St. Petersburg, the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts and others.
