Biographical information about the artist scarce.

In 1897-1906 he studied at the architectural department MUZHVZ. In 1911 traveled to Germany, Switzerland and Italy.

Participated in exhibitions MUZHVZ, the Union of Russian Artists (1910), "World of Art" (1911-1913), "Scarlet Rose" (1904), "Blue Rose" (1907), "Garland - Stephanos "(1907-1908) and others.

Collaborated in the magazines "Balance", "Art," Golden Fleece ". Since 1905, designed the performances in theaters in Moscow and St. Petersburg, has worked with the theater at Cook's, the theater KN Nezlobin, Free Theater, the Moscow Art Theater.

After the October Revolution he worked in theaters in Kiev, Kharkov, Rostov-on-Don, Baku, Sverdlovsk, in 1921-1936 - in Moscow and Leningrad studios.

took part in exhibitions in the Soviet Union and abroad, particularly in the XIV International Exhibition of Art in Venice (1924), Jubilee exhibition theatrical decorative art for ten years in Leningrad (1927) and others. He lived in Leningrad, in 1940 - in Moscow.

In early works (1900, 1910) was close to Symbolism in the 1920's went through a fascination with constructivism, with 1930 worked in line with socialist realism.
