"An artist's model in the camera lens"
The exhibition in the Tretyakov gallery (Lavrushinsky pereulok) will introduce with 45 portraits of the muses of Russian artists of second half XIX — beginning of the XX century
Special is the pictures of the second half of the XIX — early XX century, depicting the muses of Russian artists, models, paintings from the Tretyakov gallery. The audience experience of original photographs of people, posed Ilya Repin, Ivan Kramskoy, Mikhail Nesterov, Valentin Serov, Konstantin Korovin, Victor Borisov-Мусатову. The selected time frame, with rare exceptions, correspond to the epoch of symbolism and modernism, when art, fashion and lifestyle were ever close.
What do we know about elegant beauties looking at us from the canvases of great Russian artists? Thinking about the young woman in white with the paintings of Ivan Kramskoi "moonlight night", admiring the water lilies in the pond? Who were the girls posing for Konstantin Korovin paintings "In the boat" and "Paper lanterns"? Original photographs introduced viewers to the real people depicted in the paintings of famous masters, and the annotations allow you to learn little-known pages of life of artists and their models, as well as the history of the works. The portraits presented in the same space with paintings depicting the characters in the pictures. This exposition of the principle helps to understand how was born. The viewer can appreciate the art of the photographer and the skill of the painter, to see the similarities in the depiction of human beauty and, perhaps, to feel the elusive vibration that drew a unity of attitude, art, style and fashion.
the exhibition features both professional portraits made in a famous photo Studio in Moscow and St. Petersburg, and Amateur photographs created by the artists themselves. Some of the photos were used in the painting, the other was on the memory. Many of them Muse Russian artists posing in elegant toilets or specially selected for future paintings costumes. Images artists, many of which have never been exhibited before, demonstrate the lifestyle of the creative elite of Russian society. At the exhibition you can see them in the halls of the Repin, Kramskoy, Nesterov, Serov, Korovin, Borisov-Мусатова and others.
In the hall of Ivan Kramskoy, displayed photographs of family members Tretyakov: spouse of Pavel Mikhailovich and Vera Nikolaevna, and Helena Andreyevna, the second wife of Sergei Mikhailovich. E. A. Tretyakov became the heroine of the painting Kramskoi "moonlight night". Initially, the artist posed Anna Popova (future wife of Dmitri Mendeleev), still unfinished but decided to buy Sergei Mikhailovich Tretyakov, who wanted to see her his second wife. She posed for the final paintings, however, a comparison with genuine photos feel the difference of perception of the artist and the photographer.
Unique photos of sisters Mary and Faith Yakunchikova, not only posed Konstantin Korovin, but to paint with him during a summer vacation at the cottage of the artist Vasily Polenov in Zhukovka near Moscow. A young girl became a wonderful artist, whose work is also in the Tretyakov gallery. Vera Vasilievna Yakunchikova (married wolf) photographed in the same position and the background of the same landscape at the river Klyazma, which we see in the painting "In the boat". For this painting, posed and her sister Maria Yakunchikova (in marriage Weber), and the Korovin and his teacher Vasily Polenov.
Victor Borisov-Мусатов seriously interested in photography. A few of their pictures are exhibited in the hall with his paintings. They allow you to compare the artistic image and the real image is often posed for the artist sister Helen. Interesting hand painted Borisov-Мусатовым Amateur the made in Cheremshany, near Khvalynsk, in the summer of 1903. In the woods the artist's friends staged an impromptu carnival, dressed in vintage dresses. Even Vladimir Stanyukovich found any ladies ' suit, only the beard and mustache he had to cover the fan.
Photos on display at the exhibition, allow-новому look at many famous paintings, to trace the relationship and unity of pictorial and photographic collections of the Tretyakov gallery.
