Today in Podilskyi exhibition hall opens the exhibition "Artist and book". The exhibition presenting works from a private collection, continues the cycle "Russian abroad". The exhibition includes books, illustrated with artists, artist's book (livre d'artiste), and works which are based on quotations from literary works. Illustrations to literary works take their place in the work of these artists, but along with book graphics they worked on the artist's book (livre d'artiste), a synthetic form of art, which was one of the links connecting visual art and literature, artists, publishers and writers of different stran@

Unique phenomenon of the artist's book appeared in France at the turn of XIX and XX centuries. Classic artist's book includes, along with artwork, original printed schedule: lithographs, etchings. Each copy of the book, as a rule, signed by the author, artist or IZDATEL@

In the book the artist's special relationship between illustrations and the text: on the one hand, the text plays an important role (including as a motivation for artists), with the other graphic sheets are parallel text, free from the task of direct illustration of the literary material.
