the State center for contemporary art, an exhibition of works from the Museum's collection. The exhibition "Men in the city" is an attempt to study the relations of man and the city. The project theme is not accidental: the interpretation of these relationships has identified one of the major paradigms of contemporary art. The inspiration and starting point for this project curator — founder and artistic Director of the NCCA Leonid Bazhanov — was the work of works from the collection of the NCCA, in one way or another connected with the subject of human presence in gorode@

No doubt that human personality is largely determined by the space of existence. In the modern world the problem of self-awareness in predominantly urban reality stands before the artist more than ever. The city is perceived as habitat, and as the personification of the state and vlasti@

the exhibition includes more than seventy paintings, drawings, video and photographic works, as well as sculptures, objects and installations from the collection GCSI@

Wooden sculpture, made with deliberate carelessness, depicts an ordinary person in everyday clothes, the stranger, vaguely similar to each of us and at the same time aloof distant, passing by. Video of "My America" by Lithuanian artist Egle, reveals the complex and controversial topic of immigration and human loneliness, draws attention to those who were excluded from public life. In its own way continues the theme of loneliness Vladimir Yankilevsky, whose multi-layered compositions from the cycle "woman of the sea" coexist individual and cosmic, personal and social. New heroes born of urban space and society, appear in photographic portraits Evgeniy Kazannik from the series "Heroes of our time".
