Kassian Yaroslavich Goleizovsky (1892-1970) - one of the iconic figures of twentieth-century Russian ballet, the talented Russian choreographer, genuine innovator - all my life fought for enrichment, update dance language. Heir to the traditions of Russian classical ballet school, he lived in "a state of constant thirst for discovery" and came to a truly avant-garde choreography that required the artist a new language and new ways to meet new challenges.
Exhibition Gallery" Elysium "covers the period from the mid 1910s until 1932. It was a significant and fruitful stage in the life-Goleizovsky choreographer. The early period of his work was in the time of formation and development of the Russian avant-garde theater in 1910-20's, and in the process K. Goleizovsky made important contributions. Making the stage space and theatrical costume - part plastic Goleizovsky concept. The very talented artist, Goleizovsky worked only with those who were talented and in his quest of the avant-garde. Yutkevich , as well as works of the KY Goleizovsky.
A few years went from choreographer Cubist stylization in sketches G. Pozhidaeva for the ballet" The Masque of the Red Death "(1919) to the design of constructivist dance songs of the first half of the 1920s B. Erdmann and A. Petrytsky.
In productions Goleizovsky changes the very type of scene ballet, first appears decoration-design. It applies a constructivist design of the ballet "Sarcasms" (1922). B. Erdmann develops for him constructivist stage scenery for the ballet "Faun" (1922). Logical extension of this line is found in the constructivist layout A. Petrytsky for the ballet "The Death of Isolde" (1924). Perfect example of the constructivist research can be considered Goleizovsky B. Erdmann scenery for the ballet "Joseph the Beautiful" (1925).
Among the artists with whom cooperated Goleizovsky - thin plot P. Galadzhev organically embed cubism and constructivism in the design performances based on classical ballet school, N. Musatov, in which the plastic suits nude dancer's not hidden from the eyes of the audience, but stressed flying, bright elements - ribbons, fabrics, that infinite variety spectacle of dance, adding movement and posture, and B. Erdmann - the most inventive and conceptual art co Goleizovsky whose laconic in the composition made in the Cubist style and enriched with stunning details, fabrics, materials, costumes naturally became not only an ornament of dance, but also the full party, and a number of talented writers.
