Today, the State Tretyakov Gallery opens exhibition of Oleg Prokofiev. We present works of the Soviet period, and things created by him in exile - some 100 paintings and graphic works, assemblages and sculptural objects

Today, June 10, at the State Tretyakov Gallery in Krymsky Val (Hall № 80-82) will open the exhibition of Oleg Prokofiev's "The Return».

Oleg Prokofiev (1928-1998) at the turn of 1950-60-ies entered the circle of Vladimir Slepian, Yuri Zlotnikov , Boris Turetsky - Russian artists of postwar abstraction, and has created his version of non-objective art.

artist and poet, son of the famous composer Sergei Prokofiev, Oleg Prokofiev was born in Paris in 1936, lived in Moscow. In his youth attended the Moscow Art School. Along with teaching at the Moscow Pedagogical Institute took lessons from R. Falk .

O. Prokofiev participated in many underground shows and public exhibitions of young artists from 1957 to 1965. He was married to the researcher to the Russian avant Englishwoman Camilla Gray, author of "The Great Experiment. Russian Art 1863-1922 »(« The Great Experiment: Russian Art 1863-1922 », 1962).

creative pursuits O. Prokofiev's determined desire to synthesis of figuration and irrelevance, geometry and expression. In the second half of 1960 in his painting came the so-called "bright period". The artist came to the thought of the possibility of creating an ideal landscape, where culture and nature can form a visual unity.

O. Prokofiev works created by him in Russia for a long time disappeared from the cultural turn after departure artist in England in 1972. Most of the work is in museum Tsaritsyno, and in 2002 they came to the gallery. Some of them were shown at exhibitions and the permanent exhibition.

In retrospective O. Prokofiev's works will be shown in the Soviet period, and things created by him in exile - some 100 paintings and graphic works assemblages and sculptural objects.

After the exhibition of works from the collection of the artist's heirs will be donated to the Tretyakov Gallery.
