P. Kondratyev (1902, Saratov - 1985, Leningrad) finished Proletkulta art studio in Rybinsk (1919-1921). He worked as the custodian of the Rybinsk Art History Museum (1920-1922).

After moving to Petrograd he studied at the Academy of Arts in AE Kareva, AI Savinov and MV Matyushin (1921-1925). Since 1925, a member of the group IIA (Masters of Analytical Art). Since 1932, worked together with Kazimir Malevich . During these years the artist worked in many areas of the book charts, participated in the design of mass celebrations. During the Great Patriotic War, served as chief of masking service with the Air Force Red Banner Baltic Fleet.

After the war, M. Kondratiev worked on a series of educational publications for the peoples of the North. In 1950 traveled to Chukotka, has created a number of artistic works and published a Chuukese primer. The works performed in the North, form the basis of «Chukotka Series» 1950-60's.

In 1960 in Leningrad P. Kondrat'ev closer to the range of Vladimir V. Sterligov , VP Volkov. In March 1981, the first personal exhibition of the artist at the Leningrad House of Writers.

The exhibition at the Museum of St. Petersburg's avant-garde under the title «Ahna» joined about 50 paintings and drawings «Chukotka series», carried out in different years. «Ahna» - Chukchi word whose meaning Chukchi explained as «The one who is over the horizon». M. Kondratiev often used it, referring to the painting and the creativity.

The exhibition is open until August 25, 2009.
