born in a family of merchants. Original art education in Bogolyubov's drawing school in Saratov, where he studied from 1897 to 1901 by VV Konovalov and GP Salvini-Barakki. Ibid befriended young artists PS Utkin, PV Kuznetsov, Matveev. In 1901 he moved to St. Petersburg, continued his studies at the Higher Art School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture at IAH. Worked intermittently until 1908 at the Ya.F. Tsionglinskogo, II Tvorozhnikova, GR Zaleman in Repin's studio, in D . Kardovsky. In parallel, he studied at the historical, philosophical and legal faculties of the University of St. Petersburg.

Author of several articles on teaching at the Art Institute in the late 1930's started to write the book "The artist's work on the painting" (not finished).

in 1939 in Leningrad, was opened on the first solo exhibition Savinov. During the war, participated in the preparations for the evacuation of the Hermitage collection. He died during the siege in 1942.
