50 million pounds to purchase paintings by Titian «Diana and Acteon» will be collected until 31 December this year
The National Gallery of Scotland will receive 50 million pounds needed to buy paintings Titian «Diana and Acteon» from its owner - the Duke of Sutherland. This was reported on Sunday, British newspaper The Times.
Funds to purchase paintings, exhibited at the National Gallery in Edinburgh in 1945, was required to collect up to 31 December 2008. Otherwise owner was going to exhibit paintings «Diana and Acteon» to open bidding .
The requested amount, told the publication source close to the campaign to collect donations to purchase the painting, had already gathered, and unique cloth will not leave the National Gallery of Scotland.
According to The Times, 10 million pounds sterling to purchase Titian give the Scottish Executive, 12 million - the National Gallery in London, another 2 million pounds from the fund will provide the National Gallery of Scotland. In addition, 8 million pounds for the purchase of paintings donated private individuals and companies.
Earlier, it was reported that some 10 million pounds in the «Diana and Acteon» will provide the Ministry of Culture, Media and Sport through the State National Heritage Memorial Fund . Where did receive an additional 8 million pounds, the newspaper did not specify, saying only that was able to find all of the required amount.
The National Gallery of Scotland kept another work painted by Titian, owned by the Duke of Sutherland, - «Diana and Callisto». This canvas museum should purchase from the owner until 2012. The value of «Diana and Callisto» also be 50 million pounds.
