Book auction house "KABINET" on September 25. Summary

last Thursday, September 25th, the auction "Old and rare books. Prints, photographs" auction house "Russian enamel" opened the season 2014/2015 goda@

second-hand trading is not so rare in our time, but "the office" almost always manages to turn them into the event auction on the Moscow stage. (Considerable role to play for traditional "office" sections of the posters — popular prints of world war I, the poster of the epoch of the revolution, the civil war and first years of Soviet power, posters of movies and plays, etc. this time the poster was a little less than one third (134 of 453) of the lots catalog.) Directory was 5 sections: "rare books XVI — XIX centuries, Historical documents of the Russian Empire. Commemorative books and court calendars", "Russian popular prints of the XIX. Cartoons and posters of the First world war, Posters of Revolution and Civil war. The campaign posters. Movie posters", "Russian and Soviet books of the twentieth century."

the Results of the auction "KABINET" can add to the asset: to the new owners left 230 (51 %) of the 451 lots put up for auction for a total sum more than 17 million rubles, i.e. 45.5% of the average total estimate. The greatest activity was shown by the buyers, a seller on the phone: they got 124 lot 83 times won the hall, more precisely, the 16 most active from 30 registered participants in room 23 times played correspondence Stavka@

Opened the auction section of old books, which even before the auction a number of publications were listed in the list of top-лотов.

The earliest and the rarest of these books — famous "Ostrog Bible" typographer Ivan Fedorov in 1581, the first complete edition of the Bible in Church Slavonic language — exhibited with the estimate of 1.2–3.5 million rubles, but was left without a buyer (by the way, not so long ago in Moscow the other copy of this edition was sold for 0,95 million). No luck and another rare book @. "City regulations" of Catherine II [printed in the Senate] on 24 April 1785 (estimate: 430-550 thousand). Perhaps in the beginning of the season the participants are not yet ready for the high estimate?

but the Most expensive lot in this section (and the entire auction) sold 50 — the large format album "Dear heart" by I. F. Bogdanovich prints Feodor Tolstoy. A complete cycle of 62 illustrations by F. P. Tolstoi did in 1820-40-х years, and in 1850-м illustrations were published in an album, since its publication was a success among his contemporaries. In our time the situation has not changed much: "Dear heart" is still popular. Edition in publishing polukozhany cover with gold stamping was sold without haggling, start by absentee rate for 1 000 000 rubley@

First serious dispute, involving multiple phones and hall occurred at the time of draw of lot 76 — first and very rare illustrated edition of "the knight in the Panther's skin" Shota Rustaveli. Book 1888 with illustrations M. Zichy start with 135 000 went for 225 000 rubles telefonu@

Another memorable figure is @500. 000 — was made during the auction for lot 85 — set of 11 volumes of "Russia" by V. P. Semenov-Тянь-Шанского. Full geographic description of our Fatherland, desktop and road book for Russian people under the editorship of V. P. Semenov was drawn in a dispute between two telephone pretendentov@

all in All, this string has sold nearly 40 % of the lots in the amount of almost 4.5 million rubles@

Historical documents of the Russian Empire, commemorative books and court calendars (lots 90-137) went even better: almost 80 %. The most expensive lot of the section was an instance of a Statute of the order of the Holy great Martyr George the victorious 1833 (lot 91), who retired on the phone at the start in 100 000 rubles. Interestingly, the phone in bidding on this string simply showed unprecedented activity and have won 30 of the 38 sold Lotov@

And that's most of prints of the XIX century took hall. Although the hype about these works of art, which lasted almost all of last auction season, faded down, for some instances struggled on-прежнему long and hard. So, lot 154 — lithographic poster "Alexander Benois. The history of painting of all times and peoples" of 1913 (not quite primitive, but in this section of the catalog) attracted just four participants on the phone. Starting with 20 000 rubles, this four a few dozen steps raised the original figure of 6 times; at the end the poster got the winner for 120 000 rubles. Another hot dispute broke out in the hall for the poster "Moscow @Romania mdash the collection 19-20 November 1916..." of the artist G. Alekseeva (lot 189). Starting from 85 000 rubles, the participants dotorgovalas to total 130 000. The total figures for this string are: sold 33 of the 55 lots totaling 792 000 rubley@

more successfully sold a section of posters for the beginning and first half of XX century, in which almost fought in nearly every lot. In the best tradition of previous "battles for the prints" final value often exceeded several times the numbers start. The most expensive lot of the section was the poster "To the Polish front..." artist Malyutin with text by V. Mayakovsky (lot 219) sold in room for $ 285 000 rubles from the start 105 000. A little less — 260 000 rubles from the start to 47 000 @ & mdash; has been paid by the participant on the phone for lot 200 — poster "long live the Red 3-х million army!" 1919. Another interesting result @. 120 000 rubles from the start in 36 000 @ & mdash; ended in a draw of lot 197 — poster "For the red Army there are no barriers!", published in Kiev in 1919. Lot in a dispute with two participants in the room took the phone. Not surprisingly, this section showed the best statistics across the auction: sold 67 % of the lots totaling over 5 million (90 % of the average estimate); and the average results were three times higher than the starting Zen@

a Very good show, and the books of the XX century: final string catalog, brought organizers nearly 6 million rubles of revenue. Most expensive purchase of this section was lot 296 — complete set of editions of the Yearbook of the "Society architects" (12 rooms, 1906-1927.). With absentee rate for the rare lot fought two of the participant on the phone: started with 250, 000 rubles, graduated from 510 000 rubles (second evening), defeated party, who offered to record their fellows on phones bet. Just three members in the room and the phone, starting from 75 000 rubles, fought for a book "will Vozropschem" Kruchenykh drawings O. Rozanova K. Malevich 1913 (lot 320); the winner in the hall to break the opponents ' resistance, had to pay 300,000 rubles. Another interesting lot — "ABC" in Hebrew 1930-х years (lot 418): starting from 30 000 rubles, the lot in dispute absentee bids, the room and the phone grew in price to 115 000 rubles, and left the customer on the phone. The last serious skirmish happened at the time of draw of lot 447 @ & mdash; "the History of Russian art" edited by Grabar, Lazarev and Cheminova. Classic edition 1953-1969, in 13 volumes (16 books) got a buyer on the phone, pereprevshego room and another telephone bidder, for 110 000 50 000 start. Buy worth it — congratulations to the new owner with a great purchase!

And everyone else I would like to congratulate you on the opening of the new auction season. The following antiquarian auction will be held at the auction house "KABINET" on November 12. And remember that the next auction of painting and graphics "KABINET" will hold very soon — October 8. Not propustite@
