On XXXIV Russian Antiques Salon gallery "Elysium" is the work of theater artists of the first half of the twentieth century, whose work has been associated with the Bolshoi.
exhibition is devoted to the 130th anniversary of the birth Fyodor Fedorovsky (1883 - 1955). Fedorov - one of the largest theater artists, who devoted almost half a century working in musical theater and largely defined the creativity that art culture phenomenon, called "decorative art of the Bolshoi Theater," the first half of the twentieth century.
The exhibition includes works by outstanding artists Arapova (1876-1949), Bobyshova (1885-1964), Konstantin Korovin (1861-1939), (1880-1969), Pozhidaeva (1894-1977), Valentina Khodasevich (1894-1970), Theodore Fedorovsky , Shtoffera Jacob (1909-1951). Their productions 1910-40's marked vivid theatrical experiments and high artistic merit, the glory of the Bolshoi Theatre. These wonderful master belonged to different destinations - Impressionism, Symbolism, Art Nouveau, Cubism, Realism, but they all contributed to the creation of a kind of artistic style of the Bolshoi Theatre.
One of the artists who have left a significant mark in the history of the Bolshoi Theater, was Konstantin Korovin Konstantin . His reformist staging has become a new milestone in the history of Russian theater and decorative art. Instead of the traditional decoration scene is determined only by the scene, Korovin creates "scenery mood" that convey the overall emotional performance. A brilliant example of this new approach to the design of the play is presented in the exhibition Set Design "Exit the king" to Glinka's opera "A Life for the Tsar" (1914). The scene of celebrations in Moscow to mark the victory of the Russian army displayed in a manner typical of the impressionist painter.
In the early XX century, came to the Bolshoi artists innovative directions. His experimental productions they claimed the new principles of design performance, contributed to the process of renovation of the artistic image of the Bolshoi Theatre.
Theater work Arapova resolved in an easy and graceful manner of painting-related tradition of the "Blue Rose" and "World of Art." Miriskusnicheskoy continuation of the line is and work , created an exotic Chinese plot - the scenery for the ballet "The Red Poppy "Glier (1927). It was the first Soviet ballet on revolutionary themes in the Bolshoi Theater.

On display are costumes for politsatiricheskogo play "Versailles-gooders" Radlov S. (1920), the famous stage designer Valentina Khodasevich , and designs for the ballet" The Fountain of Bakhchisarai "Asafiev B. (1934). The latter was staged at the Leningrad State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre, and in 1936 the Moscow audience saw him at the Bolshoi. Decorations and designs Shtoffera Jacob to the opera by Gounod's "Faust" (1940) create a romantic image of the play where the landscape becomes a reflection of the mood of the characters work.
The focus is - . He was invited to work on the main stage of the Bolshoi Theatre in 1920, served as the chief artist of the theater in 1927-1929 and 1947-1953. This was the heyday of his work. Opera and ballet performances at the Bolshoi master different scale, pomp and pageantry.
His first play, opening a new stage in the biography of the artist, was the opera "Carmen" by Georges Bizet (1922) at the Bolshoi. Colorful riot of sketches to "Carmen" reflected his extraordinary talent and a powerful colorist artistic temperament. In the works "House of Seville" and the Spanish women's costumes demonstrated coloristic skill , his powerful artistic temperament, artist if "throws" to the canvas warm red spots and Spanish catchy shades of black.

second performance at the Bolshoi Theater was an opera by Richard Wagner "Lohengrin "(1922). Design of "Lohengrin" - one of the most interesting and beautiful concept for scenography . Working on the production, the artist tried to find a solution of the complex compositional and coloristic and spatial tasks. He boldly used the principles of constructivist theater, elements of cubist forms, effective local matching colors to create a distinctive symbolic representation of the play and give it to the main idea: the struggle between light and darkness, good and evil. Design of "Lohengrin" at the Bolshoi Theater was a success, and not by accident in 1925, Wagner's opera was staged in the same decision, and scenic design Fedorovsky at the Odessa State Opera and Ballet. Lunacharsky. For the layout and scenery for "Lohengrin," the artist was awarded the Grand Prix at the International Exhibition of Decorative Arts in Paris in 1925.

creating the Bolshoi stage design for Rimsky-Korsakov's "Sadko" (1935), Fedorov refers to the fantastic world of the ancient epic, the Free City of the ancient world and the realm of the unknown sea. Sketches of the scenery of the exposition, admire intricate decorative ingenuity, they are perceived as independent works of art beautiful.

Borodin opera "Prince Igor" (1934) - one of my favorite artist, sketches it can also be seen in the exhibition. Each artist expressed the musical content of things. The main theme of the play sets was a confrontation between two cultures: the pagan and Christian. As before, seeking clarity decorative solutions, to take liberties with the historical realities, focusing on one pole exotic nomad cultures, on the other - shine the Byzantine world. It is worth noting that the sketches for "Prince Igor" the artist received the Grand Prix at the International Exhibition in Paris (1937).
