painter, graphic designer, art theorist, one of the leading representatives of the Ukrainian avant-garde of the 1920s Anatoly Galaktionovich Petritsky was born in Kiev on January 31 (February 12 BC. cent.) in 1895.

studied in Kiev Art School Alexander A. Murashko (1910-1918). Since 1914, regularly participated in exhibitions. From 1917 he worked as a set designer, has been influenced by Alexandra A. A. Exter . In the revolutionary years engaged in the creation of posters and propaganda posters.

In the early 1920s, he moved to Moscow. In 1922-1924 attended classes in VKhUTEMAS, where he studied under A. D. Drevins and A. Udaltsova . During this period, carried out a number of non-objective paintings and drawings.

in 1923 designed the ballet "Nur and Anitra" to music by A. Ilyinsky, staging MM Mordkin (New York ).

collaborated with the choreographer L. Lukin: in 1923 designed the dance routine to the music of "Prelude" Scriabin for the Moscow Ballet free.

In 1925 he exhibited his work at the International Exhibition of Decorative Arts and Industry in Paris.

In 1925, he moved to Kharkov. Worked in Kharkov theaters. Was a member of the Arts Council of Kharkiv State Opera. The State Opera House designed: opera "Sorochinskaya fair" Mussorgsky (1925), the ballet "Le Corsaire" A. Adam (1925), the ballet "The Red Poppy" Gliere (1927), the opera "William Tell" Rossini (1927), a musical drama "Taras Bulba" MV Lysenko (by Nikolai Gogol, 1927), the opera "Turandot" by Puccini (1928), etc.

In 1925, the Kharkiv State Ukrainian Drama Theater. Franko issued comedy "Wii" (dramatization A. Cherry on a story by Nikolai Gogol and plays Kropivnitskogo ML). In 1927 he designed the staging of "Nordic warriors" Ibsen in the Theater. Shevchenko in Kharkov.

In the late 1920's - early 1930's he worked with the director of NM Foreggerom: designed the opera "Prince Igor" by AP Borodin (1929) and the ballet-pantomime "Footballers' Orange, VA (1930), the opera Boris Liatoshynsky" Golden Hoop "(1930), an opera M. Brand," Hopkins Machinist "(1931) at the Kharkiv Opera and Ballet. Another collaboration Foreggera and Petrytsky - ballet piece set to music by C. In the 1920's and 30's he worked as a cartoonist and book illustrator, said easel paintings on the theme of living of workers, created a series of portraits of the Ukrainian literature and theater (1928-1932).

collaborated with choreographer K. Ya Goleizovsky since the early 1920's. In 1923 he was an artist of the Moscow Theater of Miniatures (former "Crooked Jimmy"), which was in charge of choreography Goleizovsky part. In the same year, together with BR Erdman was a costume designer in the set Goleizovsky program "eccentric dancing." In the theater of miniatures made out performances, including «Danse macabre», «Dancing patter", "Championship foxtrot" (all - the music Jur. Jurgenson), "Eccentric dance" to music by S. Milutin, "Japanese Ballet" "Eccentric dance" to the music of J. Yudin, "Spanish Dance," "shoeshine boy" to music by M. Blanter, "Boston dynamiter" (staged in collaboration with AG Alekseev), "Musical snuffbox", "Corner Circus "(staged in collaboration with AG Alekseev and ED Vigilevym).

in 1926 designed by Alexander Borodin opera "Prince Igor" at the Odessa Opera and Ballet (Goleizovsky set choreography for the opera film "Polovtsian camp»).

In 1934-1935 continued cooperation with KY Goleizovsky in Kharkiv State Academic Theater.

In 1940, 50 years worked with the Great Theater in Moscow, created the artwork for several performances - particularly the costumes and sets for the opera Yu Shaporin "Decembrists" (1953).

In 1946-1950 he taught at Kiev Art Institute, Professor (1947).

In 1981 he published a book of memoirs of the artist.

People's Artist of the USSR (1944). Twice winner of the State Prize of the USSR - for making the Kiev Drama Theater. Franko plays AE Korneichuk "Makar Dubrava" (1948) and "Snowball Grove" (1950).

died March 6, 1964 in Kiev.
