Born into a peasant family, making bread. He studied at the Kharkiv drawing school, then in Odessa drawing school in KK Kostandi (1889-1891). In 1891-1897 attended classes at IAH as volnoslushayuschego student. Upon completion in 1897 received a certificate for teaching drawing in secondary schools.

lived in Odessa. He worked primarily as a landscape, rarely turned to the genre, portrait. In early work continued the tradition of Russian lyrical landscape, from the mid 1900's in painting emerged of Art Nouveau and Symbolism.

addition to easel painting, was engaged in journalistic graphics, drew cartoons for the satirical magazine Odessa "Ringing" (1905).

Participated in exhibitions of the Moscow Society (1892-1900, with interruptions). Member of the exhibitor and the Association of South Russian artist (1893-1919, with interruptions), TPHV (1895-1915, with interruptions, member since 1912). Also exhibited their works in the Salon VA Izdebsky (1909-1910), People First Exhibition (1919) in Odessa, the World Exhibition in Rome (1911).

In 1922 he became one of the founders and board members of the Art Society. KK Kostandi. From 1897 he taught calligraphy and painting in high school, drawing from 1912 at the High School of Arts (since 1912) of Odessa, professor.
