BELYASHIN Vasily Vasil’evich

In 1893–1901 Belyashin studied at Moscow School of painting, sculpture and architecture (MUZhVZ) in the workshop of V. A. Serov; in 1901–1906 — at the Higher Art Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture under the Imperial Academy of Arts (IAKh) under V. V. Matai and I. E. Repin. In 1901 Belyashin was awarded small silver medal and conferred title of free artist.

In 1906 Belyashin was conferred a title of an artist for drawing and etching; he got an opportunity to make a retiree trip abroad.

In 1907 Belyashin traveled through Europe as a pensioner of the Imperial Academy of Art. After returning he lived in Petersburg (Petrograd – Leningrad) Belyashin worked as a portrait painter and landscape painter. He was engaged also in etching. He painted a series of self-portraits.

Belyashin took part in spring exhibitions in the halls of the Imperial Academy of Arts (1903, 1905, 1907–1911, 1916–1918), exhibitions of the Society of artists (1916), the group Obshchina khudozhnikov (“Artist community”, 1917), the Association of artists of Revolutionary Russia (AKhRR, 1926), the A. I. Kuindzhi Society of artists (1927) and others.

Belyashin worked as an illustrator in magazines Novoye Vremya (“New Time”, St. Petersburg, 1906), Vershina (“Height”, Petrograd, 1916), Zhurnal Zhurnalov (“Magazine of magazines”, Petrograd, 1916).

Works by Vasily Belyashin are in many museum collections, including the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, Dnepropetrovsk Art Museum and others.
