From a family of merchants, British subjects. Studied in MUZHVZ (1882-1890) as a volunteer at В. Е. Маковского, И. М. Прянишникова in the workshop В. Д. Поленова. From 1891 — participated in exhibitions. A member and Exhibitor TPHV (1891-1916, with breaks). Member of the Moscow society of artists (1914-1915), Moscow fellowship of artists (1910-е). Participated in all-Russia industrial and agricultural exhibition in Nizhny Novgorod, the exhibitions of Moscow society of art lovers (1900-1901), in the gallery Lemercier (1909-1912) in Moscow, 3-й exhibition of paintings (1919) in Ryazan. He exhibited his work at London's Royal Academy of arts (1916, 1918).
