In mid-1900's, he studied at the Stroganov Art Central School of Industrial Art, in private studios Korovin, and SV Ivanov. In 1909-1910 traveled to Europe, where he studied modern Western art.

lived in Moscow. In early 1910-s became close to Malevich, MF Larionov and other representatives of the artistic avant-garde. Participated in the controversial actions of the Futurists at the Kuznetsk Bridge.

After the October Revolution he worked in the Moscow College of Fine Arts Narcompros, in 1920-1921 was a member of the tariff and Procurement Commission Narkosprosa. Participated in exhibitions of "Streetcar B», «Top" (both - 1915) in Petrograd, 5-second public exhibition of paintings (1918-1919) in Moscow, the jubilee exhibition "Artists of the RSFSR XV years in Leningrad, Moscow (1932 -- 1934), as well as exhibitions of Soviet art in Berlin (1922), USA (1929, New York, Philadelphia, Boston, Detroit), and others.

Morgunova works are in several museum collections, including the State Russian Museum, State Tretyakov Gallery and others.
