The exhibition "Isaac Levitan and his contemporaries" in the Samara art Museum presents the works of I. I. Levitan, V. D. Polenov, A. K. Savrasov, K. A. Korovin, V. A. Serov and others.

the Exhibition continues a creative partnership between the Russian and Samara art museums, which began in 2014. The exhibition presents 22 works of painting and graphics of I. I. Levitan and 20 works by his contemporaries: teachers — V. D. Polenov, A. K. Savrasov and friends of the artist — K. A. Korovin, V. A. Serov, M. Nesterov, I. E. Grabar.

the Neighborhood Levitan with teachers and friends exhibition is not accidental. His images, themes, and the way in art he found while training in the Moscow school of painting, sculpture and architecture. The first was his teacher A. Savrasov, which in the most simple, uncomplicated motif could see and convey the poetry of the Russian landscape. V. D. Polenov contributed to the development of Levitan's interest in landscape, light and air.

Domestic audience Levitan is known primarily as the author of the wonderful paintings of the "Golden autumn", "March", "vladimirka", "Evening bells", "Above eternal rest", "Lake". At the same time the creative heritage of the artist is not confined to software pictures, its a big part of the sketches, preparatory work, the opening of his "creative kitchen" directly related to the process of creating his great works.

In the exhibition are from the collection of the Russian Museum presents works of the artist created in the period from the late 1870-х 1890-е years. The earliest of these are studies performed in the late 1870-х and the first half of 1880-х years ("Cherry", "Summer. In the apiary", "Sheaves and a village beyond the river", "Spring forest" and several others). The exhibition also presents works written by Levitan in the Crimea ("seashore") and during the trip to Italy ("Lake of Como").

Visitors can see the famous etudes 1890-х years — "Late autumn" (1894), "Spring. The last snow" and others. Interesting study "Cloud in the sky. Twilight" (1893), written in the period of work on one of the deepest levitanovskih paintings "eternal rest". The exhibition presents the sketch "Twilight. The moon" (1899), on which is written the same picture.

the exhibition will also be shown three works by Levitan from the collection of the Samara art Museum: sketches "Summer evening", "Evening sketch" (1880-е) and figure "Hunter" (1890-е).
