State Museum of architecture named after Schusev, Moscow presents an exhibition project to 280-летию since the birth of the great Moscow architect Matvei Fedorovich Kazakov (1738-1812). The exhibition "Matvei Kazakov and pre-fire Moscow" will be the first retrospective of the work of architect for the last decade.

Matvei Kazakov, an outstanding Russian architect, one of the founders of Russian classicism and the most famous representative of the Russian pseudo. Receiving education in the architectural school of Dmitry Ukhtomsky, he learned the basics of architecture in the treatises of Vitruvius, Palladio and Vignola. The Cossacks have absorbed a love for ancient architecture. He honed his talent through hard work and deep study of the works of their predecessors. Formed characteristic creative style Kazakova — blend of classic and ancient architecture. Architectural drawings and watercolors of his contemporaries Kazakova be a wealth of material on the history of many public and residential buildings of the city in the second half of the XVIII century. Pre-fire views of the city will allow today, at the beginning of the XXI century, to visually restore the image of the bygone, "kazakovskaya" of Moscow.
