"Lazar Khidekel" in the Russian Museum
Tomorrow, 21 November, Stroganov Palace in St.-Петербурга opens exhibition of works of the bright representative of Russian avant-garde, the first Suprematist architect Lazar Markovich Khidekel
Lazar Khidekel (1904-1986) — bright representative of Russian avant-garde and the first Suprematist architect — began his artistic education in Vitebsk art school in 1918, under the leadership of M. Dobuzhinsky, M. Chagall, K. Malevich, El Lissitzky. He actively participated in the creation of an Association UNOVIS ("Affirmative new art"), conceived by Malevich as "the party of Suprematism".
the Dream of a young student to become an architect was supported by the teacher. Malevich sent it to the workshop of El Lissitzky, which was conducted by entering the planar Suprematism to an extent. In 1921 Khidekel together with Malevich and a group of students moves to Petrograd and, without breaking ties with UNOVIS, he goes to the Institute of civil engineers to get a solid professional base. The fame of the young architect brought student work "Project worker's club" (1926). Here the abstract ideas of Malevich laid down in the "architectones", turned into a specific object.
In sketches 1920-х years, created under the direct leadership of Malevich, Khidekel examines the basic methods of Suprematism and finds its theme: concentric circles, dynamic diagonal composition, the echoes of which can be found in the draft of 1960-х years.
the exhibition, which includes more than 80 works will be presented as futuristic projects Khidekel (cities of the future — projects space dwellings, City-сад, aerograd, Aquagard) and projects implemented buildings: on Malookhtinsky and Moscow prospectuses, on Gorokhovaya street; the "Moscow" cinema on the Old-Петергофском Avenue and others.
unfortunately, the collection of the Russian Museum of works of Lazar Khidekel is not represented. The exposition of works from the collection of the family of the architect provide a unique opportunity to get acquainted with the legacy of another brilliant avant-garde.
