teacher Hulot Sooster, the future national artist of the Estonian SSR Elmar kits (1913-1972) was the head of the Department of monumental painting of the Tartu State art Institute and taught there in 1947-1949. There at the same time, until his arrest, studied and Julo Sooster (1924-1970). Kitts formally belonged to the system of official Soviet art: he had the portraits of the leaders, and scene collections. But at the same time he found opportunity to tell the young generation about the achievements of foreign art, raised her as best they could, the iron curtain. Wife Sooster Lydia later wrote about Keats that "Hulot adored and was his faithful squire, like Sancho Panza".

In 1949 the student Sooster was convicted on 58-й anti-Soviet article ("enemy of the people") and sent to Karlag, where he was released in 1956-м. Later, in Moscow Sooster became one of the main artists of the unofficial art — legend Sretenskiy circle (which included Yuriy Sobolev-Нолев, Ilya Kabakov, Viktor Pivovarov, Vladimir Yankilevsky, etc.)

Today the artist is among the most popular and darling of the sixties.

the Exhibition with the works of Hulot Sooster and Elmar Kitts will be shown in the exhibition "poetics of the lines. Art of Estonia 1918-2018", works which provided for the Art Museum of Estonia and the New Tretyakov gallery. Along with the art of the Soviet period, the exhibition will feature key works of the masters of modernism, the Estonian pre-war period and the creation of Estonian artists of the XXI century.
