Tretyakov gallery presents an exhibition of watercolors of Grand Duchess Olga Alexandrovna. A fine landscape painter, a nurse and Trustee of charitable funds, she started painting in early childhood and devoted to the beloved every moment. The exhibition covers the works created by the Grand Duchess from 1898 to 1952 during her stay in Russia, Denmark and Canada.
Grand Duchess Olga Alexandrovna (1882-1960) — daughter of Emperor Alexander III and Empress Maria Feodorovna, the younger sister of Emperor Nicholas II. Her childhood was spent in the Imperial Palace in Gatchina, where she began painting, studying with the best artists-педагогов K. V. Lemokh, V. Makovsky, S. Yu. Zhukovsky and S. A. Vinogradov. Alexander III had approved and supported the daughter's hobby of painting.
Early watercolors Olga Alexandrovna reflect the life of the Romanovs in St. Petersburg and Alexander palaces — they depict scenes in the staterooms and home rooms of the Imperial family. During the celebration of Christmas and Easter great Princess loved to paint children's games and still lives with the image of a celebratory table. Postcards with reproductions of her watercolours produced in large quantities in pre-revolutionary time, also presented at the exhibition.
In the early 1900-х years Olga Alexandrovna organized in the Palace of exhibitions of young artists. The proceeds from the sale of paintings and watercolors of the money went to charity. The Grand Duchess was a patron of the Imperial society of Russian watercolors and created on its basis the Society of artists named after A. Kuindzhi. During the First world war, Olga own funds, opened the First Evgen'evskoe the hospital where he worked as a nurse. Even at the front and the Grand Duchess paid free time drawing — in her watercolors a scene in the hospital, and portraits of officers.

In Denmark, the family of Olga Alexandrovna together with the Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna lived in the Royal Palace Amalienborg in Copenhagen. After the death of the Empress the family of the Grand Duchess bought a farm near Knudsen from Copenhagen. In 1948, the Soviet Union presented Denmark a note of protest in connection with the fact that Olga helped Russian prisoners of war and refugees, and family kulikovskikh had to move to Canada. The Grand Duchess acquired a house and small farm in Campbellville near Toronto. In Canada, she continued to paint and successfully sold his paintings that served as the source of livelihood of the family.
Died Grand Duchess Olga Alexandrovna November 24, 1960. She was buried in the cemetery in the North-Йорк in Toronto next to her husband N. A. Kulikovsky.
