However, only in 2003, he learned that not all masterpieces are so well-loved era, including works of Rembrandt, are in museums and many of them are available on the art market. Passionately in love with the works of Rembrandt and artists of his time (hence the name meeting — Leiden collection), the wife of Kaplan thanks to the tireless searches, based not only on the existing financial possibilities but also on an exceptionally happy the collecting fortune, in a comparatively short time become owners of amazing artistic significance of the collection of works of Dutch painting of the Golden to her the seventeenth century. Thomas and Dafna Kaplan acquired substantially all of authentic paintings by Rembrandt, who occasionally appeared on the international antique market in the last 15 years. And not only Rembrandt, but also many of his contemporaries. In a time when the creations of genius of the old (classical) art has long been distributed between the major museums and privatecollections that have deep historical roots, the couple Kaplan undertook and successfully carried out a seemingly unrealistic project: to assemble from scratch a representative and wide-ranging collection of paintings by Rembrandt, Frans Hals, Johannes Vermeer of Delft and numerous chamber works of the Leiden masters — representatives of the so-called fine art (fijnschilderei).
the Leiden collection, the nucleus of which is the collection of works by Rembrandt, according to its scale and intensity is inferior except that the leading national museums in the world. In thirty-six works of the artist, and the spectators have a unique opportunity to see one of them as creations of the master are not represented in the collections of Russian museums. This latest picture, presumably painted on canvas from the same roll, what other work of Vermeer — "Lacemaker", presented in the permanent exhibition of the Louvre.
