In the Sheremetev Palace — the music Museum opened the exhibition "Lithuania Mstislav Dobuzhinsky", dedicated to 100-летию of restoration of Lithuanian statehood. The study not only of the artist's life, but the lives of the whole country between the two world wars. The most famous member of the Association "World of art", graphic, Illustrator, painter, theater artist, an expert on heraldry of Lithuania, Mstislav Dobuzhinsky has taken Lithuanian citizenship in 1924, lived and worked in Lithuania until the end of 1930-х years. The most complete collection of his works from this period — theatrical sketches pre-war State theatre, urban views Vilnius and Kaunas, sketches of the Lithuanian province — exhibit in Saint-Петербурге three largest Museum of Lithuania. A major project of the Lithuanian Council for culture is supported by the government of St-Петербурга and the Consulate General of the Republic of Lithuania.

In St. Petersburg Mstislav Dobuzhinsky interested in the "wrong side" of the city, its firewalls, the courtyards-колодцы, the backstreets. In the Lithuanian capitals and provincial towns, the artist also looked into the hidden inner life, constantly sketched undress cityscapes. The originality of Lithuanian architecture powerfully influenced the future ally of A. Benois, K. Somov, with their passionate interest in the past ages. In Vilna (Vilnius) Dobuzhinsky, son of the General-лейтенанта with Lithuanian roots, spent part of his childhood here, graduated from high school and later recalled: "In Vilnius old boy would hug me, and I lived among the various legends connected with the city... and Absorb all the various impressions of antiquity and admiring it, I unbeknownst to myself I studied architecture and styles. The most graceful and elegant of Vilna churches were built in the XVIII century and the spirit of this century I was the first to see it here. And not only that. In Vilna, the accumulated layers of several eras: there were Gothic, and heavy Baroque, and classic. I began to notice the grandeur of the architectural proportions, the charm of empty planes and, most importantly, I started to feel the poetry of architecture".

In 1924, a recognized artist, stage designer, book designer Mstislav Dobuzhinsky took Lithuanian citizenship and were repatriated to Lithuania. From 1925 to 1938 he designed at the State theatre of Lithuania (Kaunas) many Opera and drama productions, laying the foundations of the Lithuanian national scenery. The most significant sketches dobuzhinskii from the collection of the Museum of theatre, music and cinema of Lithuania, holds about 1,200 of his works presented at the exhibition. Sketches for "Queen of spades" by Tchaikovsky (1934), "Boris Godunov" by Mussorgsky (1930) and other masterpieces of the theatre-декорационного art showcase the art of balance between the modern elements and avant-garde historicism and decorative abstraction, so characteristic of the master.

In the Kaunas period Mstislav Dobuzhinsky was actively engaged notonly work in the theatre, but also pedagogy, journalism, painting, and landscape graphics. For the latter he traveled a lot around the country. The exhibitions organized in the Lithuanian period, Dobuzhinsky willingly presented their types of Klaipeda, Ukmerge, Marijampole, Alytus, Prienai, after a trip to Zemaitija — types of Lwaki, Seda, Sakeni, Alsedziai. Riga (City art Museum, 1924), Amsterdam (Stedelijk Museum, 1928), Paris (Gallery Drouet, 1929), Brussels (Palace of fine arts, 1931), near Petersburg, Harlem, Rome, Helsinki, Copenhagen, Paris exhibited drawings of the Vilnius churches and cathedrals, the Kaunas Cathedral, the banks of the Neman and towns of Lithuania Minor.

Once in the United States during the Second world war, Dobuzhinsky showed their urban landscapes at the exhibitions, organized primarily for Lithuanians-эмигрантов. A collection of graphics Dobuzhinsky, after the Brooklyn exhibition of 1973 called "Old Lithuania" was donated to the Republic of Lithuania in 2006. This is what, according to historian Wanda Cryogene, the artist asked his son in later years. The types Lithuania Dobuzhinsky invaluable not only for its artistic quality. Poet Kazys Bradunas in 1980-е wrote: "we Must remember that time and the past wars of today will not leave a trace of recorded graceful hand of the artist object (wooden churches, gates of the temple, roadside shrines or crosses). They exist for our culture only in a single place — in the picture Dobuzhinsky".
