Eight exhibited before the portraits of Karl Pavlovich Bryullov (1799-1852) from 24 January to 24 June 2018 will be on display in the main gallery in Lavrushinsky

the Exhibition acquaints the Moscow public with eight works of Karl Pavlovich Bryullov (1799-1852), a major Russian artist of the first half of the nineteenth century. Demonstration paintings next to classical paintings in the halls of the Tretyakov gallery complements the idea of the artistic heritage Briullov, and gives the viewer a rare opportunity to get acquainted with such important works known only to specialists. Portraits from the private collection St.-Петербурга represented in the halls of the Tretyakov gallery, filled with K. P. Briullov at different periods of creativity. Thus, the portrait was exhibited at the exhibition of paintings and rare works belonging to the members of the Imperial household and individuals of St. Petersburg (1861) and Historical-художественной the exhibition of Russian portraits held in the Tauride Palace (1905).

the Original collecting interests of the owner to creativity Bryullov was due to the fact of its personal biography. In subsequent years, there was a focused search of the legendary ancestor. Some of the works have long been in private hands abroad. So, one of the early self-portraits by K. P. Briullov was purchased at a London auction, and the equestrian portrait of A. N. Demidov bought in Paris. Of the Moscow meeting of doctor of medicine, academician D. A. Zhdanov received front image"Ladies at the piano" (1838). The authoritative scholar of the painter E. N. Azarkina attributed portrayed as Briullov wife Emilia Timm. Family "Portrait of E. P. Gagarina sons, Eugene, Leo and Theophilus" (1824) was purchased from St. Petersburg heirs of the great physiologist and Nobel laureate I. P. Pavlov.

Interesting history of existence of the newly detected repeat the most famous Briullov-portrait (1848, TG). In the late nineteenth century, this copy belonged to the great Prince Konstantin Konstantinovich (poetic alias — K. R.) and was in the marble Palace. The result of the post-revolutionary redistribution, the picture came to the Museum of the Institute of Russian literature of the USSR (Pushkin house), where with the permission of the President of the Academy N. I. Vavilov was transferred to the artist G. D. Epifanova in exchange for the sculptural bust of M. V. Lomonosov by F. I. Shubin. Until recently, the portrait was kept in the descendants Epifanova.

In the result, literally, in 15 years managed to acquire five portraits Bryullov. Among other works, these works were exhibited in the halls of the State Russian Museum in 2013, the exhibition "Karl Bryullov. From private collections of Moscow and St-Петербурга".
