the Exhibition "Unknown New", which opened at the New Museum, dedicated to the memory of its founder, Aslan chehova. It was decided that henceforth the Museum will bear his name — New Museum Aslan chehova.
In every Museum there is a certain part of a collection that for one reason or another not known to the audience. Most often it happens due to lack of space and established standard of the permanent exhibition. Has its own unknown, reserved, home, and part of the collection of the New Museum. Aslan Chekhoev, a passionate collector of the collection and founder of the New Museum, managed to present seven years ago, at the opening of the Museum in 2010, the compact but vivid exposition of nonconformist art.
the Museum lead students-искусствоведов lessons on the art of the second half of the twentieth century. Works from the collection of the New Museum can be found on the exhibitions in the Russian Museum, the Tretyakov gallery, the Museum of fine arts. Pushkin art Museum St.-Петербурга. But still the whole collection in its entirety was never presented to the viewer. But it would be impossible — would not be enough space. The feature and task of this exhibition to acquaint the viewer with the unknown part of the collection. The intrigue is in the fact that almost half of the exhibition is homework Aslan chehova, the ones that constantly hung in his apartment and brought directly from there.
Among them are the works of the Leningrad abstractionist Eugene mihnova-Войтенко (1932-1988), hero of the St. Petersburg art-сцены from the underground era to the present day Anatoly Belkin, known for its Imperial fervor of the prize. Kandinsky, Alexei Belyaev-Гинтовта, classic of Russian painting Natalia Nesterova; Nikolay Ovchinnikov, Brueghel the Russian province of Vladimir Feoktistov, the legendary Anatoly Zverev (1931-1986), Vasily Sitnikov (1915-1987), Oleg Tselkova, master of bromoil Gregory Maiofis.
the exhibition also includes works that have appeared in collections in recent years. This large-format canvases of the Parisian Zharkikh — one of the heroes of the Leningrad underground, the initiator unofficial exhibitions 1974-1976, and reclusive Moscow of Oleg lang (1950-2013), rarely coming out of his workshop, but to create their own parallel reality populated by "inhabitants of time", as well as works by St. Petersburg artists of different generations — Boris Koshelkov, Patriarch of the Leningrad unofficial art Vladimir Kozin from the "New stupid", the legendary St. Petersburg artist, one of the founders of the group "New artists" Ivan Sotnikov (1961-2015).
the Exhibition is a logical step of the New Museum's representation of the new Russian art from the era of non-conformism to the present day.
