In the Samara regional art Museum opened the first exhibition in Russia Ivan Schultze, the bright representative of Russian landscape school of the beginning of XX century and the first wave of Russian emigration. Exhibition in Russia demonstrated only in the Samara Museum. The exhibition includes 50 paintings.

a German by birth, was born in St. Schultze-Петербурге in 1874. Was educated at the Imperial Academy of arts, studied under the famous landscape painter Konstantin kryzhitskogo. A few years before the revolution Schultze paintings successfully exhibited at exhibitions of the Academy of arts, Association of artists and was acquired in the largest private collections — for example, in the collection of Carl Faberge. Work got in the great meeting: painting Schultze liked the Grand Duke Mikhail Alexandrovich and Georgy Mikhailovich, the master was patronized by the Grand Duke Vladimir Vladimirovich and Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna.

Along with some outstanding Russian artists, especially the members of the society "World of art", Schultze participated in the design of printed cards, which are also popular. Emperor Nicholas II appointed him court painter, was allowed to leave to work abroad. A talented landscape painter, traveled widely in Europe, Africa, Asia, visited the Arctic.

Schultze did not accept the revolution and in the early 1920-х moved to Paris. There it was waited by an unexpected commercial success: rather quickly was followed by solo exhibitions in Paris, London, new-Йорке, Chicago, recognized by collectors. With the works of Schultze worked the famous Parisian gallery owners Leon Gerard and Eduard Jonas, engaged in exhibition projects in Paris and new-Йорке. Representing landscapes in major world capitals, Schultze until the end of life remained in demand among the contemporaries of the painter, while remaining completely unknown at home. He is buried at the cemetery, Coked in nice.

Master of lyrical landscape, Schultze took their own creative niche. His ability to subtly convey the lunar and the solar light still delights connoisseurs of the genre. He was not an experimentalist, remained faithful to the landscape and not chasing new effects. This continuity is somewhat contrary to the spirit of the ongoing artistic research in the art of first half of XX century, when there were all new "-измы", broke the traditional boundaries of visual perception. The academic canons of composition, the tradition of German romantic landscape were intertwined from the artist with the linearity and applicationoctet, peculiar to the aesthetics of ar-нуво. Turning to the methods of pictorial schools , regional, Schultze worked with light and color beyond the boundaries of the national species motives. A considerable role was played by numerous travel. Its Alpine scenery of snow-capped Switzerland, have been so finely felt, as the beauty of the Russian winter, and consummate the transfer of the silvery flicker of snow especially fascinated audience. Schultze has overcome the national isolation of the landscape genre.

Current exhibition — the first major monographic exhibition in Russia Schultze, which represents the artist's works from different periods and allows you to discover and appreciate its artistic originality, to make a significant contribution to the study of the rich heritage of the Russian abroad.
