The Museum of St. Petersburg avant-garde "House Matyushina", an exhibition dedicated to the Elena Guro Genrichovna (1877-1913) - an outstanding Russian painter and poet of the early XX century, the member of the group of poets Futurists 'Gilea" and one of the founders of the St. Petersburg Union of Artists' Union of Youth. " Together with her husband, artist Matiushin Guro is considered the founder of the organic direction in the Russian avant-garde.
Gouraud was born in St. Petersburg in a noble family. In the 1900s, attended private schools James Tsionglinskogo and Elizabeth Zvantseva, studied at Mstislav Dobuzhinskiy and Leon Bakst . The style of her visual language was influenced by impressionism, modernism and primitivism. The value of creativity Guro is determined primarily by its originality personal worldview. The main theme of creativity Guro chose nature, which peered attentive and full of compassion look, constantly turning in poems and paintings to germs, herbs, animals, trees, rocks and clouds. Guro lived only 36 years old, she died of leukemia May 6 (April 23) 1913. She was buried in the village Uusikirkko (now Glade).
The exhibition at the Museum of St. Petersburg avant-garde shows 10 works by contemporary artists, correlating their creativity with the traditions of Russian avant-garde of the organic direction. Natural motifs characteristic of Guro, in a new way to interpret abstract works of Gregory Molchanov, Nikolai Kiselyov, Vladimir Zagorov and Gennady Zubkov . The exhibition also presents the author's book "Poems of Elena Guro" of St. Petersburg graphics Julia Zaretsky, creatively exploring the futuristic style of the first editions.
The exhibition is accompanied by a demonstration video of the first performance of the opera "Madame Elsa" Estonian composer Vsevolod Pozdeyeva , established in 2013, based on the works and diaries of Elena Guro.
