History of the restoration in the Moscow Kremlin museums goes back to XIX century. A new stage in its development relates to post-revolutionary years, when the Kremlin restoration workshop was organized, and the staff of the museum appeared position restorer. But in 1938, the post was abolished and reappeared only in 1963, when the museum opened restoration workshop. Today the department consists of four sectors: metal restoration, restoration painting, restoration and restoration of tissue papers, books and graphic materials. They employ highly skilled art restorers. The exhibition was attended by all four sectors, with a number of exhibits showing the joint work of the restorers of different specialties.
