In the heart of creativity Marc Quinn is a serious philosophical understanding of the history of art, history, culture and the reality in which we live today. In this case, it works brilliantly with any materials and in various media. Whether it's a sculpture, painting or installation - in any of his works Quinn explores the basic questions of the universe and the laws that exist in this world.

Exhibition Quinn in Mammen, called the "big wheel is spinning," according to the artist, talks about the "history of the planet Earth and all that is in it exists." Like the spiral of a seashell, the world is constantly changing, and these changes - man, nature and knowledge - are reflected in art. In "Eye of the stories," the artist imposes an image map of the world on the retina of the human eye, "I painted the retina just because it is in the depths of his eyes, and that is where the brain and central nervous system occur with the outside world. It is there that has a beam of light on the light transmitted to the nervous system and, in the end, comes to mind as an image. So the true boundary between the world and us - this is not the pupil and the retina. " Masterfully combining art and science, Marc Quinn explores the human and natural forms, but always remained true to its scale, talking about matters of life and death, beauty and ugliness, immediacy and eternity.

Works Quinn's almost always in the context of a broader artistic tradition. His giperrealisticheskaya "flower" painting allows a new perspective to see the tradition of vanitas - XVII century Dutch still life. Series "The Complete marble" (1999-2000) refers to the Greek sculptural tradition and at the same time forces us to represent the perfection of the human body. "In sculpture," printed by the cybernetic engineering, cloned and grown Rabbit "(2004) is currently Rodin grace (...), but in this sculpture course, we are not dealing with a person with a skinned animal carcass. And the human body, and the bodies of animals have to undergo the most incredible manipulation, modification and distortion - even go through the pain and death - to find so elegant and beautiful forms. And the beauty of what we at first took for a human body, begins to be seen in a new light: it is, as it turns out, of the same nature as the beauty of skinned rabbit, no more - or less - than that. Similarly, the pattern of a series of "Art of the flesh" (2012) show us the blood and guts that make up our thinking, "I am." Quinn's own words, "the people are very arrogant and believe that they are - above all else, but in fact we are with this" all other "connected" "(Jerry Brotton," Confessions and disaster »).
