Pearl of the exhibition - the work of Mary Lagorio

In XXXIII antique shops gallery "Elysium" presents works by Russian artists of the late XIX - early XX century. The exposition consists of works of famous artists such as Redko Clement , George Pozhidaev , Viktor Vasnetsov Victor , Mikhail Mikhail Nesterov , Vasily Vladimirov , Vasili Denisov , Isaac Brodsky , Alexander Shchekatikhina-Pototskaya , Maria Vasilyeva , as well as works by Mary Lagorio , representatives of the Russian branch of the aristocratic Genoese kind, nieces landscape Leo Lagorio (1827-1905).

Presented leaf depicting the Annunciation have curly shape, and the song itself is focused on the scene of the Annunciation of the samples of the European Renaissance, which was widespread in the creation of icons and church monumental painting with artists religious and national direction.

In his works, the artist often turned the art of the book. In particular, she has created illustrations for Oscar Wilde's "The Picture of Dorian Gray" (published by Holger Schildts, Helsinki, 1921), as well as posters for the ballet performances with choreographer Edith von Bonsdorf (Edith von Bonsdorff). In the early 1920s, Lagorio completed illustrations for the book "Queen Tamara" with poems by Mikhail Lermontov. Published lithographic erotic album «Kikimora Erotique» with 23 black and white illustrations (limited edition 350 copies), an album of 12 lithographs «Zwoelf Zeichnugen» (both - publishing "trireme", Berlin), "Don Juan" ET A . Hoffman (published by "Walter and Rakint", Berlin). At the same time she worked with the literary and art magazine "Flashes" (1921-1923, Berlin). At the same time the artist has performed project sets for the opera "The Tales of Hoffmann" by J. Offenbach for the German Opera in Prague and worked in the Russian art mobile theater.

Lagorio has participated in exhibitions in Helsinki, Porvoo, Paris and Berlin. In 1923, together with her husband Istselenovym held an exhibition of his works in the office of Henry's book illustrations Trittlera (Berlin), Gallery New Art Hans Goltz (Munich). A joint exhibition of works organized by NI Istselenovym in Prague in December 1924 - January 1925, has become one of the largest art events in the city and had a wide public response, and one of her works was acquired by the wife of the Czech president, Mrs. Masaryk.

In 1925, the family-Lagorio Istselenovyh moved to Paris at the center of artistic life in Europe. At this time, Lagorio enthusiastically studying new trends in art - Cubism, Dadaism, Surrealism and abstraction.

The artist experimented with colorful materials and the basics of using wax paper, as well as divergent combinations of colors and waxes. Artists from ancient times used the hot wax in his work. That wax tempera (encaustic technique), written by many early Christian icons. For Mary Lagorio, who in his works often turned to ancient motifs and murals, as well as active in religious paintings, such interest in machinery writing on wax seemed quite natural. Her works 1920-30-ies of organically combine sophisticated modern plastics and various other features, including the avant-garde, trends in the development of European art in the first half of the XX century.
