The first joint Russian-American exhibition of works by Nikolai Ivanovich Feshin held in Kazan and Leningrad in 1976. This exhibition presents the artist's best work from seven Russian and six American museums, including the State Tretyakov Gallery, State Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Tatarstan in Kazan, the State Russian Museum, the Chuvash State Art Museum, Frye Art Museum Seattle Art Museum, New Mexico Santa Fe, as well as works from the corporate and private collections in Russia and the United States.

The exhibition at the Tretyakov Gallery is the first time the audience has one of the iconic works of the artist's American period - "Portrait of the engraver. WJ Watts' (1924, private collection, Moscow), for which a prize Feshin Thomas R. Proctor in the category of portrait painting in the exhibition at the National Academy of Design in 1924. This work from 1924 was in private collections, and his whereabouts until recently was not known in the art.
