Today at the Center of Photography Lumiere brothers opened a unique retrospective of M. Markov-Grinberg (1907-2006) - the photographer, whose name, along with the names of Alexander Rodchenko , J. Khalip , B. Ignatovich , Shaikhet , rightfully included in all the encyclopedias and textbooks on domestic photography.

This is the first exhibition of this magnitude. 150 photos, selected by curators and members of the family Mark Markov-Grinberg, Moscow audience will see the first time. All photos are printed from original negatives. Curators carefully studied the author's archive and tried not to deviate from the author's reading, given the priorities of the photographer in the selection of photographs for exhibition and trimming photographs. Of course, over time the organizers were interested in the fact that the author of a number of reasons (time, events, people) never published.

At different periods of art Markov-Grinberg addressed the various topics and the exhibition is based on the same principle. On display are well represented countryside theme - most in the 1930s to the author, topic Aviation, childhood, war, VSHV as the quintessence of the "great illusion", Production, Moscow, and portraits of famous people. In general, the exposure is 50 years, our country's life in pictures.

In 1926, Markov-Grinberg had a chance to take pictures of Mayakovsky, who arrived in Rostov-on-Don. In the hotel room where he stayed a poet, it was dark. And even then, he sat at the window position is not saved. Mark took the sheet directly from the untidy bed, and asked a colleague to hold it - "for reflection." By installing the unit on a tripod, demanded that the poet did not move for 20 seconds. Without batting an eye, Mayakovsky was looking into the lens of one-third minute, slightly frowned, without a smile - as if for him there is nothing more common, as posed, barely rose in the morning, Assertive newspaper people who still do not know what will happen in the picture. It turned out well. Perhaps, from this point and started the "age of photography" in the life of Mark Markov-Grinberg, who could not meet for only one year before his century.

In July 1926, Mark Greenberg went to Moscow. I photographed for magazines "Change", "Proletarian communication", "health worker". A year later joined the trade union of Soviet art - Vserabis (ticket number 6041). In 1929, a reporter friend of F. Kislov, filmed for the Press-Tass cliché, led Greenberg to his editors. In November 1930, Greenberg became a photographer for the Central Editorial Press cliché Tass.

Having access to a unique archive, to the opening of the exhibition center publishes the Lumière Photo Album Mark Markov-Grinberg. This is the first publication devoted to works of the photographer. The album will include some 100 photographs, and the organizers hope that the publication of rise in the number of the best books on the national image.
